Singer Mod Sun thanked his fans for saving his life and for the part they played after his shocking breakup with Avril Lavigne.
Mod Sun and Lavigne first met in 2020 and engaged in March 2022. They were assumed to marry soon, with the “God Save The Teen” singer saying he wanted to give her “the wedding of her dreams,” but his plans were dashed when Lavigne called off their engagement in February.
Lavigne, for her part, appears to have confirmed a budding romance with rapper Tyga, as they’ve been spotted packing on PDA on multiple occasions.
Mod Sun Says Fans ‘Saved’ His Life After His Breakup
During his recent performance at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, Mod Sun expressed the grateful state of his heart to fans as he shared that they “saved” his life following his split from his ex-fiancée, Avril Lavigne.
The “Karma” crooner, 36, and the “Girlfriend” singer, 38, got engaged in March 2022, but their relationship hit the rocks as they split last February.
“Ya’ll f**king saved my goddamn life for the last six weeks,” Mod Sun shared on stage, per TMZ.
“If any of y’all are going through some s**t right now, whether it be heartbreak, depression, addiction, anxiety, or maybe you just have a negative voice in your head right now, I want you to know the one thing I have learned in the last almost four years: do not be afraid to ask for help,” he added.
Mod Sun concluded his speech by saying thank you before noting that it was time for a “new chapter” for him.
Mod Sun Dreamt Of The Perfect Wedding For Avril Lavigne
In a February interview with E! News, Mod Sun revealed his intentions to give Lavigne the “wedding of her dreams,” adding that she was a princess and deserved the best.
Mod Sun, at the time, said that he looked forward to getting married to his “shelter” co-singer but noted that “it’s beautiful to let the engagement last, so we’re still living in that moment.”
He shared that when the time came for them to walk down the aisle, he would play a significant role in the planning phase as he and Avril “are very similar in the way we love to curate things.”
“She’s a princess, she is,” he told the news outlet. “She’s a motherf**king princess. That’s real shit so that we will have a very special wedding. I can’t wait for that time to come.”
He Previously Said That Avril Lavigne Changed His Life
The “Internet Killed the Rockstar” crooner previously shared that his estranged fiancée saved his life as she positively impacted him. He mentioned that Lavigne was responsible for so much change in his life at the time.
“I have found such a partner in this world to go through the chaos that life gives you,” he told E! News. “I have found that person. I’m with a grown woman who has gone through it all ten times over, and she makes me a better person.”
He said he’s “cool with maturing” and added that Lavigne helped him realize he’s not a “childlike, messy” person, explaining how her influence had somewhat altered his perspective.
Mod Sun also narrated how Lavigne saved his life, calling her his “protection,” noting that she kept him from the “idea of self-destruction” and removed the button he resorts to for “self-sabotage.”
