Jennifer Aniston resurrects 'Friends' Rachel at the Golden Globes 2024

The new ’do looked elegant paired with her timeless black gown

Tonight at the 81st Golden Globes, Jennifer Aniston rocked a hairdo that Friends fans may find endearingly familiar.

The Morning Show star made a sophisticated arrival at the Beverly Hilton in L.A. for the award ceremony. For the occasion, she wore a timeless strapless black column gown from Dolce and Gabbana, featuring a fitted bodice and a skirt embellished with a sequined scalloped pattern. She accessorized minimally, eschewing a flashy necklace, instead simply wearing a pair of glittering drop earrings.

As for Aniston’s beauty look, the Friends alum channeled a major throwback, styling her signature dirty blonde hair down into a choppy shoulder-length ’do split into a side-part—a style made so popular by the character she played in the ’90s sitcom that it was immediately dubbed “The Rachel.”

Aniston talked about her distaste for the “Rachel” trend in a 2011 interview with Allure, in which she jokingly described hairstylist Chris McMillan as “the bane of my existence, because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look.” She added: “How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen.”

Despite being snubbed in the Globes’ Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama category, Aniston is at the ceremony repping her acclaimed Apple TV+ drama, The Morning Show. The series, which also stars Reese Witherspoon, has earned two nominations, Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.

Aniston talked about her special bond with Morning Show costar Witherspoon in an interview published last month in VarietyWe’ve been in each other’s lives for 20-something years,” Aniston told the outlet. “It’s just in our DNA that we are collaborators. We’re partners. We’re friends. We’re girlfriends, we share all sorts of heartbreaks in life and love and everything.”
