Drake won over 2 million with bets at UFC 287 on April 8.
MMA fans are always curious about who hip-hop superstar Drake will bet on when UFC events occur. Drake has a history of betting on UFC fights, sometimes it worked out in his favor, and other times it has not. Fans may remember Drake placing a 200K bet on Kamaru Usman when he lost to Leon Edwards at UFC 278 on Aug. 20, 2022. He recently placed a 400K bet on Jake Paul when he failed to defeat Tommy Fury on Feb. 26.
When Drake places a bet for UFC events, MMA fans believe that his bad luck will rub off on the fighter. Ahead of the UFC 287 main and co-main event, the superstar put money on Israel Adesanya and Jorge Masvidal to win their fights. Drake placed two bets on Adesanya alone for a combined 900K to defeat UFC Middleweight Champion Alex Pereira. For Masvidal, he put a combined 500K bet for him to beat Gilbert Burns.
How Did Adesanya and Burns Do At UFC 287?
Adesanya rebounded from his knockout loss to Pereira at UFC 281 on Nov. 12, 2022. The odds had him winning, as he was a slight favorite at -135 going into the fight, according to the UFC. He ended up defeated Pereira by knockout in the second round to reclaim the UFC Middleweight Championship. Drake bet on Adesanya to win by knockout and won over 2 million.
Masvidal wanted to become a title contender with a win over fifth-ranked welterweight Burns in the co-main event. He came into the fight as a +350 underdog. He had some success early in the first round, but Burns proved too much to handle with his striking and grappling ability. Ultimately, Burns won by unanimous decision, and Masvidal decided to retire after competing for 20 years.
