Backstreet Boys announce U.S. dates with Avril Lavigne

Last year's In a World Like This Tour went so well, the Backstreet Boys have decided to extend it into this summer.

Avril Lavigne will join the group as opening act for the two-month foray into North American amphitheaters. After a string of Canadian shows in early May, the tour will return to the U.S. for 23 concerts, beginning May 22 at the WaMu Theater in Seattle, Wash.

"We really wanted to put together a great show and do our best to give everyone their money's worth," Brian Littrell said in a press release. "Avril is an unbelievably talented artist who's a perfect fit to make these shows extra special for our fans."

Good Morning America announced the new dates Friday morning.
